1What you need

A Mac with Apple silicon (M1 or later), 8 GB of memory and macOS 27 or later. Pulsatio plays your Apple Music library and the Apple Music catalog, so playing catalog music needs an Apple Music subscription. Music in your own folders and on your own Plex or Jellyfin server plays without one. Some features need a Pulsatio subscription, separate from Apple Music.

2Connecting Apple Music

Pulsatio asks for Apple Music access the first time it opens. If you chose Don't Allow, turn Pulsatio on in System Settings › Privacy & Security › Media & Apple Music, then reopen the app.

3AI features

Pulse Search, Pulsatio Play (Smart Playlists), Mood Mix, album cover search and a few written notes in the app use AI services. Pulsatio asks before any of them sends anything. Turn them on or off at any time in Settings › General › AI Features. The Privacy Policy lists what each one sends.

4Shazam

Identifying a song uses your Mac's microphone, only while Pulsatio is listening. If it doesn't hear anything, check that Pulsatio is on in System Settings › Privacy & Security › Microphone.

5Your own music

Add music folders in Settings, or add a Plex or Jellyfin server. Pulsatio talks only to the servers you add.

6Reporting a problem

Help › Report a Problem sends what you write, your reply address if you give one, the app and macOS versions, your Mac model, your Apple Music country and language and, if you leave the box ticked, the latest crash or hang log. Nothing is sent until you press Send.
